Series 1: The Nature of God

(Edition 1.0 20000115-20000907)

The frequently asked questions in this series 1 paper relate to passages of Scripture and a view of the nature of God that are unexplained and unexplainable within modern mainstream Christianity. They also reflect erroneous views of some Sacred Names, Messianic Jewish and Chinese True Jesus theology.

Frequently Asked Questions Series 1: The Nature of God

This paper was prepared in answer to a post to an e-mail forum. The questions indicate a serious problem of theology that all Christians will have to deal with over time. Benefit is gained from looking at these texts and we may all hopefully be able to use them in our daily activities, or in conversation and witness.

The questions here are indicative of a false theology that is endemic in the Sacred Names Groups, particularly among Messianic Jews. The True Jesus Church has also managed to get this matter of the nature of God and Christ completely distorted.

For that reason the Churches of God will benefit from dealing with this issue.

The answers to the questions are placed below the questions and are as follows:

*************************************************************************

Q1. We believe in ONE ELOHIM (GOD). God is called ‘elohim’ or ‘eloah’ but from where does the word “GODHEAD” come into existence?

Answer: The word and concept Godhead was invented by Theologians to define a difficult problem in dealing with more than one elohim in the Bible text (Psalm 45:6-7 and Hebrews 1:8-9) and also the fact that the Bible says Satan is the theos or elohim of this world (2Cor 4:4).

Q2. In the beginning ELOHIM (singular or plural) created the heavens and the earth. Who is this ELOHIM? What is His name? Is it Yahweh or Yahshua?

Answer: Elohim is both. The Sacred Names groups, make a distinction between the names Yahweh and Yashua and the Trinitarians and Binitarians seek to combine them. Elohim is both the One True God and the beings who act for Him. The word can be singular and also plural. Eloah cannot be plural.

Sacred Names theology in the USA misuses and confines the names of Yahovah (Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary (SHD) 3068 and Yahoshua (or Joshua as we know it in the short form) to Yahweh and Yashua and confines them to two beings, when the terms are used in the Bible for multiple beings. Yahovah (He causes to be) is a title given to all delegates of Yahovah of Hosts or Yahovah of Heaven (Yehovih see SHD 3069). The Bible records Yahovah as being used by three angels at the same time in dealing with Abraham, Lot and Sodom, whereupon Yahovah rained down fire from Yahovah in heaven (cf. Genesis chapters 18 and 19).

Yahovih (SHD 3069) is the only word applied to the One True God Eloah and is read by Jews as Elohim. Yahovah (SHD 3068) is applied to other beings, as well as Yahovah of Hosts and is read as Adonai in those cases. Yahovah was changed to Adonai in 134 places by the Sopherim for this reason (cf. also Bullinger’s Appendix 32 to the Companion Bible for the lists).

There are other names given to the One True God such as Elyon the Most High (Deut. 32:8) and many others as we see from the papers. Other papers on the names and Nature of God and the structure of the Heavenly Host can be found on the websites at http://www.logon.org and http://www.ccg.org

The Council of Elohim of the Psalms deals with a council of the Heavenly Host called elohim and so we are dealing with multiple beings. Godhead is used to examine this concept but also has been misused to confine it.

Q3. Who is the Melchizedek in Genesis 14:18? Yahweh or Yahshua?

Answer: Neither. It was Shem or his deputy (cf. the paper Melchisedek (No. 128).

Q4. In Genesis 1:26,27; 11:6,7; Isaiah 6:8; does the word “us” talk about Father and son, or Bridegroom and Bride, or Elohim and angels?

Answer: The texts speak of the council of the elohim. It speaks of Eloah and the elohim: The sons of God (cf. Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:4-7; Ps. 82:1, 6). The elect are to become elohim as the Angel of Yahovah at our head (Zech. 12:8). Elohim is an extended title where God as Eloah becomes God, as all in all, as Elohim (Eph. 4:6) (cf. the paper The Elect as Elohim (No. 001)).

Q5. How many thrones are there in heaven? Only one, or two, or three?

Answer: There are multiple thrones. Thy throne is a throne of God (Ps. 45:6) is rendered “thy throne O God”. Therefore elohim thy elohim has anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy partners. There are multiple elohim but only one Eloah (cf. Ezra 4:24-7:26).

Q6. Who is this in Genesis 32:24-30 (cp. with Hosea 12:3) Yahweh or Yahshua? Is it any other angel? If this is an angel what is his name?

Answer: His name is Pele or Wonderful and he was an elohim as spokesman for Yahovah of Hosts. He became Jesus Christ. He was the Angel of Yahovah, who was himself called Yahovah, which is a third person form and means “he causes to be” (cf. Annotated Oxford RSV fn. to Ex. 3:14). He is often also identified as Michael who means “who is like God”.

Q7. According to John 3:13; 6:62; 8:58; who is this Yahshua? Was he before Abraham? How was he before Abraham and in what shape or in what name?

Answer: The answer is as above in 6. He was the Face of God and the Appearance of the Glory of God.

Q8. Why did Yahshua appear to claim himself, that he was the Father in John 14:8,9? He said the word “FATHER” in proverbs/figures of speech in John 16:25,26?

Answer: Messiah has the Holy Spirit, which is the power of the Father. No man has seen God ever or ever can see him (Jn 1:18; 1Tim. 6:16). Messiah is granted the title everlasting father, from Isaiah 9:6, as he is prince of peace and the Angel of Great Council (cf. Is. 9:6 LXX).

Q9. From Isaiah 9:6, who is this Child, Son, Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty El, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace?

Answer: He is identified by ancient Israel as the Angel of Great Counsel (LXX) or the Angel of Yahovah (cf. Zech 12:8).

He is identified by Zechariah as the elohim at the head of the household of David, which are the elect as the church. This was always understood to identify the elect as becoming elohim or in the Greek theoi. You will see this in the work of Irenaeus and this has been examined in the paper The Elect as Elohim (No. 001). Is it not written in your Law I said ye are Gods… and Scripture cannot be broken (Jn. 10:34-35).

Q10. In Matthew 1:23 who is this Emmanuel? Does this mean ELOHIM WITH US? If so who is this ELOHIM?

Answer: It means El with us. This does not mean the One True God of John 17:3. It refers to the elohim anointed as elohim with the oil of gladness above his partners (Ps. 45:6-7; Heb. 1:8-9). This elohim was the angel that wrestled with the patriarch and brought Moses and Israel through the Red Sea as the face of haElohim or The God (cf. 1Corinthians 10:4 also). This Angel of the Law and the Face of God, was the Yahovah and Elohim of Israel appointed by his Elohim, who was Yahovah of Hosts or Yahovih (SHD 3069), the One True God, the Elyon. He alone is Eloah, the One True God. He sent Jesus Christ and to understand this fact is to have eternal life (Jn 17:3) (cf. the papers The Angel of YHVH (No. 024); The Pre-Existence of Jesus Christ (No. 243); The Deity of Christ (No. 147)The Purpose of the Creation and the Sacrifice of Christ (No. 160); Psalm 45 (No. 177); Psalm 110 (No. 178)How God Became a Family (No. 187)Eternal Life (No. 133); Joshua, the Messiah, the Son of God (No. 134)).

In the development of the Trinitarian model, which is behind this line of questioning, there is a theological error derived from paganism. The history and theology is examined in the papers dealing with the Early Theology of the Godhead (No. 127)Binitarianism and Trinitarianism (No. 076)The Development of the Neo-Platonist Model (No. 017) and Binitarian and Trinitarian Misrepresentation of the Early Theology of the Godhead (No. 127B).

The logical necessity of the process can be seen from the paper The Government of God (No. 174)The City of God (No. 180) and also The Holy Spirit (No. 117).

The place of this process in the Law of God and as it applies to Jesus Christ is seen from the papers Law and the First Commandment (No. 253) and Law and the Fifth Commandment (No. 258). The Role of the Messiah is found in the paper Role of Messiah (No. 226) and the problems in Scripture are also examined in The Pre-Existence of Jesus Christ (No. 243) and in Arche of the Creation of God as Alpha and Omega (No. 229). All these papers are available from the Internet web at www.logon.org or www.ccg.org.

Q11. What do the texts in Matthew 11:27 & Luke 10:22 mean?

Answer: These texts are explained in the above papers. Christ came to reveal the Father to mankind. He was sent with the Holy Spirit, the power of God, and with that Spirit was able to know the Father and the fullness of the Nature of God dwelt in him bodily. The text in Luke shows that the seventy were chosen and they were predestined and their names were written in heaven.

This demonstrates the calling of God according to the predestination expressed in Romans 8:29-30. The mysteries of God were not revealed to mankind until these last days. The Bible was given in parables and Christ spoke in parables so that people would not understand and turn and be saved before their time.

The plan of God enables people to be brought into judgement on a progressive basis. People who ask for the Holy Spirit are turned and are allowed to proceed and to know the Father. For this is eternal life to Know the One True God and Jesus Christ whom He sent (Jn. 17:3). God knows the heart and the capacity to enter into Judgment.

Those who commence and fail go to the second resurrection with all mankind to come under judgment at the proper time. They were never part of the chosen or elect. The Holy Spirit is given to those who are given to Christ and those who come to Christ. It is retained by the obedience to God in keeping the commandments of God and the Testimony of Jesus Christ (Rev. 12:17; 14:12). God knows who will succeed and calls the chosen at the proper time to succeed.

Q12. According to Acts 20:28, who gave this blood: was it Elohim (God), Yahovah or Yahoshua? Is the “lord” distinct from Yahovah (wrongly called Yahweh) called lord in the O.T.?

Answer: Both terms apply to the one being in this case as explained above. Christ was Yahovah as a subordinate being to the One True God Yahovah of Hosts, or Yahovih, the Elyon and Eloah.

Q13. Is Yahoshua simply a mediator as per 1Timothy 2:5? See also Galatians 3:20; Micah 4:3; and Isaiah 59:15,16. Who is this mediator?

Answer: The Law was ordained by angels in the hands of a mediator. The Angel of the Presence who gave the Law to Moses was Christ (Acts 7:35-36).

Christ was the rock that was with Israel in the wilderness (1Cor. 10:3-4). He was in the Pillar of Fire and Cloud and spoke to Moses face to face. Look also at the paper Moses and the Gods of Egypt (No. 105) and also Pentecost at Sinai (No. 115). There are many other papers dealing with this subject at http://www.logon.org and http://www.ccg.org

Q14. Who is this appearing from the beginning in Micah 5:2?

Answer: This person is the Messiah and the intent of the text is explained in the paper Micah 5:2-3 (No. 121). It is incorrectly used to show that Messiah was co-eternal as a second God with the One True God. The text demonstrates that Messiah had pre-existence but not that he is co-eternal. See also the paper The Pre-Existence of Jesus Christ (No. 243). Some churches use this text to explain somehow that there were two Gods, one of whom agreed to become the son of the other. This is fatuous reasoning and makes a nonsense of the terms father and son within the structure of language.

Q15. Compare and contrast Proverb 30:4 and the last part with Zechariah 14:9. How many beings are there? Are there two or is there only one?

Answer: Proverbs asks the question: What is His name and what is his son’s name declare it if ye have any understanding? It then answers the question in the next verse. Every word of Eloah is pure (Prov. 30:5). The answer is given in the next line. The Messiah is His son.

Yahoshua means salvation is of Yaho. Yaho was the original form of the root name incorrectly rendered as Jah. The Aramaic letters of the Temple at Elephantine in Egypt to the Temple at Jerusalem ca 410 BCE show this to be the case (cf. Pritchard, The Ancient Near East, Aramaic Letters, Ginsberg tr. vol 1, pp. 278 ff).

Q16. When no one knows the Father and no one has heard His voice (as per John 1:18; 5:37), from where did this voice come? See also Matthew 3:17; 17:5; 2Peter 1:17,18. How do we say that it is from the Father?

Answer: John 1:18 says the only born god, that one being in the bosom of the Father, spoke (cf. Hort, On Monogenes Theos in Scripture and Tradition). This is explained in the papers above esp. ibid. (No. 243). The Receptus was altered to read monogenese uion nevertheless it is clear from that text.

Q17. What is this in Proverbs 8:22-31? What does it signify, Knowledge or Yahshua?

Answer: Proverbs 8:22 was generally understood as referring to Wisdom as the Holy Spirit. This view was later changed to make Christ precede the Holy Spirit and make the Holy Spirit a product of the two and later, from the Filioque clause at the Council of Toledo, a product of the Son (cf. the paper Consubstantial with the Father (No. 081)).

Q18. Who is the rock? Is it Yahweh or Yahshua referred to in 1Corinthians 10:4? If this is Yahoshua, then is the Old Testament Yahovah the New Testament Yahoshua?

Answer: The name Yahovah is incorrectly Yahweh. This name Yahweh is explained in the paper Abracadabra: The Meaning of Names (No. 240)).

It is Yahovah of Hosts who is Eloah (cf. the Statement of Beliefs of the Christian Faith (No. A1)) that was and is the Rock. It is Christ that was the spiritual rock that was with Israel in the wilderness in 1Corinthians. 10:4. The Yahovah that was Christ was not the Rock that is Eloah or Yahovah of Hosts.

This distinction is lost on the Sacred Names Groups and hence they stumble in their theology over this issue. Until they understand this point they cannot understand the Nature of God. The problem lies in the application of only one variation of He causes to be, namely Yahovah, to God. Sacred Names theology has a complete ignorance as to the usage and application of the other terms of Yahovah of Hosts and Yahovih (3069), Eloah and Elohim and HaElohim as applied to the One True God and Yahovah and elohim as applied to Christ and the other sons of God.

Q19. Do you know that Thomas addressed Yahoshua as “My lord (kurios) and my god (theos)” in John 20:28? Who then is this person? Is it Yahoshua, Elohim, or the son of Elohim?

Answer: It was all three, but he is not Gr. Ho Theos (The God) or Heb. Ha Elohim (The God) or Eloah, the singular form of God as the object of worship and the derivation of the Law (cf. Ezra 4:24-7:24). The definite article is only used of The God, Eloah, the Father of all.

Q20. Do we know this saviour elohim in Luke 1:48; 2:11?

Answer: This is a self-evident question from the text, but a saviour acts for and on behalf of The Saviour who is Eloah. These are delegated titles as is Yahovah and Elohim. Job 33:23 (RSV) shows that one of the angels of the thousand could act and was to act as redeemer. The Angel of Redemption was the elohim of the Patriarchs (Gen. 48:15-16).

Q21(a). What is at the right hand of God in the O.T.?

Answer (a): The right hand of God is both a position and a being. The position is a qualification and Christ qualified and we as the elect will qualify as coheirs with him. In the OT, the Right Hand of God is the elohim referred to in Psalm 45:6-7 which we know refers to Jesus Christ from Hebrews 1:8-9. He was loyal and was anointed with the oil of gladness above his partners. His throne is a throne of God (rendered thy throne O God in the Psalm).

Q21(b). Why did Stephen speak as he did in Acts 7:55 and why did Micah the prophet say what he said in 1Kings 22:19 & 2Chronicles 18:18?

Answer (b): The sons of God as the Host of Heaven stand on the right hand and left hand side of the throne of God. Christ ascended as the son of God in power from his resurrection from the dead (Rom. 1:4) whereupon he was glorified with the glory he had with the Father before the earth was formed (cf. the papers mentioned in previous FAQ’s).

Q22. Can you comment on John 1:1 “The word was with Yahovah.” How many beings are involved in this text?

Answer: The word Yahovah is not used in this text and it is in Greek. As explained before, if it were to use the terms Yahovah etc. it would be phrased as: Yahovah was towards Yahovah of Hosts. This terminology is found in Zechariah 2:5-9 for example, as Yahovah Sabaoth. The divine being that is sent to Jerusalem and Zion in the Last Days is Yahovah, but not Yahovah of Hosts who sends him.

In v 11 we read:

And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day and shall be my people and I will dwell in the midst of thee and thou shall know that the Lord of Hosts has sent me unto thee.

Clearly this is Messiah the Yahovah or Lord, speaking of God as Yahovah of Hosts who sent him.

The text in John 1:1 says the word was toward God and not with God (i.e. pros Ton Theon), and (a) theos was the logos (indefinite article inferred); or more correctly: our theos was the logos meaning the subordinate elohim of Psalm 45:6-7 who is the Angel of Yahovah (cf. Zech. 12:8). This is explained in paper The Pre-Existence of Jesus Christ (No. 243)).

Q23. What do Romans 9:5; 1Timothy 3:16; Titus 2:13 mean in referring to theos?

Answer: Theos is used of the son without the definite article in Matthew 1:23; John 1:1; (1:18 in the ancient texts but not in the Receptus where it is altered to uion), 20:28 etc., Romans 9:5; 2Peter 1:1; 1John 5:20 (cp. Col. 2:9 and 2Peter 1:3,4). The use of the theos without the definite article is in the same sense as that in Psalm 45:6-7 and Hebrews 1:8-9. Christ is the elohim of the aeons come in the flesh. This distinction made between Eloah and the entities termed elohim, with Christ as head of the sons of God, was the distinction between the doctrine of the church over the centuries and the Trinitarians who came after them with their invented doctrine. The 1851 Heydock commentary of the Douay Bible has a footnote to 1John 5:20 that incorrectly tries to allege that the definite article (the) here is used of Christ as elohim. This was done specifically to counter those referred to by Heydock as Socinians, in other words Unitarians of both types (cf. the paper Socinianism, Arianism and Unitarianism (No. 185); and also The Role of the Fourth Commandment in the Historical Sabbath-keeping Churches of God (No. 170)).

Timothy 3:16 in the KJV is a rendering of a forgery based on the forgery in Codex A in the British Museum. The footnote in the Companion Bible explains the details. Basically the uncial O (i.e. he who) has been altered by two subsequent forgers both in different ink. A Bar was added to the O making Theta and a later sigma was added making Theta Sigma as the interpreted abbreviations for theos and hence making the text refer to Christ as God, which it does not do. It is a forgery and is corrected in most reputable Bibles.

Titus 2:13 refers to Christ as the appearance of the Glory of the great God and Saviour. It is rendered in the KJV to make it appear that Christ is being referred to as the great God, when he is the glory of God our Saviour. Christ was the Angel of the Presence as the glory of the Lord in the pillar of fire and smoke. He is the anointed elohim of Israel as the premier focus of the plan of Salvation. This text in English in the KJV was a misconstruction deliberately made to support Trinitarianism.

Look also at the paper Arche of the Creation of God as Alpha and Omega (No. 229).

Q24(a). Some people are teaching that there are two Yahovahs (or Yahwehs)! Who are these beings? 1) A Visible Yahovah; 2) An Invisible Yahovah. Where is the proof for that assertion?

Answer (a): There are at least three Yahovahs and actually four from the Bible texts in Genesis 18 and 19.

One Yahovah, the senior, stayed with Abraham and the other two Yahovahs went off to speak with Lot and deal with Sodom. Then Yahovah rained fire on Sodom from Yahovah out of heaven. Thus the term Yahovah is a title given to those angelic beings who act for Yahovah of Hosts, or the One True God Eloah, the Elyon or Most High. There are multiple beings with this title Yahovah.

The Sacred Names theology is completely unable to sort this issue out, as it applies the title Yahovah as the only name for God and then tries to apply it to Him solely, when Scripture plainly applies it to others acting for Him. They can not deal with the use of the terms and the theological meanings they convey. Their theology is hence intellectually misleading and erroneous.

Q24(b): Is then the OT Yahovah the NT Yahoshua?

Answer (b): One of them is the New Testament Messiah, Yahoshua or Yehoshua, at least three others are not. The multiple beings that appeared to men under the title Yahovah in the OT were not the One True God, whom no man has ever seen or ever can see (1Tim. 6:16).

Q25. Who is the Emmanuel of Isaiah 7:14?

Answer: El with us is in the text, not elohim. This el with us was the Messiah. El is able to be used in the same sense of mighty one either deity or angelic or also human.

Q26. Why did Yahoshua cry “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit”? Some denominations claim there is no Father, cp. John 16:26? They claim Yahoshua is the one deity both as father and son and there is no distinction.

Answer: John 16:27 states quite clearly that The Father Himself is fond of you seeing that you are fond of me and have believed that I came out from God (Concordant Literal NT).

This is eternal life that they know the one true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent (Jn. 17:3).

The Sacred Names groups, some Messianic Jewish theology, and also the True Jesus Church among the Chinese hold this false theology. The view stems from the misunderstanding of the Hebrew texts and the use of the names. It is a form of Modalism that was endemic among the early Romans from the worship of the god Attis. It ignores the theology of the early church and the various titles and texts regarding God in both the OT and the NT. The papers listed above deal with the texts necessary to understand the views. Look at the paper The Pre-Existence of Jesus Christ (No. 243).

Q27. Who raised Messiah from the dead? Did he raise himself or did somebody raise him? (cf. John 2:19; 11:25; Mark 16:6; Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:34, 46).

Answer: God raised Christ from the dead by command. He was commanded to lay down his life and he had the command to take it up again. However, he was dead. There was not some part of him dangling in the heavens. For that is the doctrine of Antichrist. The text of 1John 4:1-2 was altered in the Greek texts according to the historian Socrates. He says it was corrupted by those who wished to separate the humanity of Christ from his divinity. 1John 4:1-2 should read:

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth Jesus Christ came in the flesh is of God; and every spirit which separates Jesus Christ is not of God but is of Antichrist (cf. Irenaeus 16:8 (ANF, Vol.1, fn. p. 443); see also Statement of Beliefs of the

Christian Faith (A1), 4th edition, CCG, p. 7).

Some denominations claim God the Father is not a separate being. They claim Yahoshua is the one deity both as father and son and there is no distinction.

Q28. Do you know why Messiah prayed as he did in Matthew 27:46; Luke 23:34,46; John 19:28? Was it to fulfil the prophecy of Psalm 22; Isaiah 53:12; Psalm 69:3; and Psalm 31:4?

Answer: Christ’s prayer from Psalm 22:1 is answered by reference to the same Psalm at Psalm 22:24:

For he hath not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, but when he cried unto Him He heard.

It was done in order to show his and our dependence on the love of God in the resurrection and in affliction. See particularly the paper I Thirst (No. 102).

This answers the questions also above and is fully developed in the papers listed and others on the resurrection.

Q29. Did Messiah say that he himself is Elohim in John 10:33 or 5:18?

Answer: Untrue! Christ never at any time said he was elohim. This comment was made when they accused him of saying he was elohim but he answered them.

Is it not written in your law I said ye are gods (theos/elohim quoting Psalm 82:6). If He called them gods (elohim) unto whom the word of God came, and the Scripture cannot be broken Say ye of him whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blaspheme because I said I am the son of God (Jn. 10:34-36).

Hebrews 2:11 states that he who sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all of one origin. However, Christ was sanctified by God in the first place as we see from this Scripture. Thus all sanctified can be of God as Christ is of God.

Q30. When comparing Psalm 47:5 with Luke 24:5; Acts 1:9, did that one who was taken up as Yahovah become Yahoshua the Messiah?

Answer: Elohim has gone up (been exalted) Yahovah with a ram’s horn. This was Christ but he was exalted by His Elohim (cf. Ps 45:6-7; Heb.1:8-9).

Q31. Who is this in Revelation 1:8, Yahovah or Yahoshua? Is he the sovereign Elohim?

Answer: This process of the elevation of Christ in the texts in Revelation and the errors in those texts in the KJV are explained fully in the paper Arche of the Creation of God as Alpha and Omega (No. 229). Christ is not the sovereign elohim. That position belongs to Eloah, the Father alone.

Q32. How do we know Messiah’s father as per these references in John 14:7,9; Mark 9:37; John 12:45; 15:24; 1John 2:13,14?

Answer: If you know Christ you will also know the Father who sent him (Jn. 17:3). They are not one and the same person as the True Jesus Movement seeks to make out and as the Messianic Jewish and Sacred Names movements erroneously try and assert. This process of knowledge comes through the Holy Spirit.

Q33. You may say Elohim has no question of birth and death, whereas Yahoshua the Messiah died and fainted. Is not birth and death only for the body and not for the spirit as per John 6:63?

Answer: The Doctrine of Antichrist seeks to assert a separation of the humanity and divinity of Christ as above. At death the spirit goes back to God who made it (Eccl. 12:7) (cf. the papers The Resurrection of the Dead (No. 143) and The Soul (No. 092)).

Christ was given the command that he was to die and to be resurrected at the end of three days and three nights. What God commands is so.

Q34. When comparing John 1:14 with Hebrews 2:14 might we not conclude that the spirit of Yahovah appeared in the form of Yahoshua the Messiah?

Answered above. One Yahovah, the Angel of Yahovah of Hosts, did not seek to grasp equality with God and so became the man Yahoshua (short English form: Joshua) or Jesus Christ and humbled himself, making himself obedient even to death on the cross (cf. Phil 2:5-8). The loyal Host did not seek to grasp equality with God and remained loyal. Messiah was sent to reconcile the entire creation to God.

Q35. According to Hebrews 9:16,17 who is it that has to die here? Is it Yahovah or Yahoshua? Who made the testament of death in the Garden of Eden?

Answered above. Death came by the disobedience of man under the influence of the demons (cf. the papers The Doctrine of Original Sin Part 1 The Garden of Eden (No. 246) and Doctrine of Original Sin Part 2 The Generations of Adam (No. 248)).

Yahoshua was a yahovah and elohim as we see above. He was sent, for God so loved the world that He gave His only born (monogene) son, so that whoever believed on him should not perish, but have eternal life. We will all become elohim. It is written in our law: I said ye are gods (sons of the Most High all of you) (Ps: 82:6) …and Scripture cannot be broken (Jn. 10:34-35).
